“Pioneering that speaks louder than words.”
This is the type of action that backs the mission of Orange Jordan, the public mobile network operator that primarily provides integrated communications services within the Kingdom of Jordan. The company takes pride in its many connectivity capabilities for Jordanians, plus its contributions to efforts in digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and the environment.
And, as of this month, Orange Jordan’s efforts are also supported by Nokia.
The breakdown here is simple: Nokia has been chosen by Orange Jordan to provide 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment across the Kingdom of Jordan. By partnering, Orange Jordan will be able to offer its customers enhanced connectivity and capacity while laying the groundwork for the Kingdom’s future digital transformations.
As of this news, Nokia will supply 5G RAN equipment from its comprehensive AirScale portfolio, leveraging its energy-efficient ReefShark System on Chip (SoC) technology for easier, faster roll-out. And, as part of this agreement, Nokia will replace Orange Jordan’s entire existing RAN network.
A win-win, some would say.
It certainly is one for Orange Jordan, given the company has set an ambitious goal to provide 5G services to 50% of the Jordanian population within four years (with a year-over-year growth of 5% thereafter).
The agreement also includes the latest generation massive MIMO radios (i.e. which support high RF bandwidth), along with AirScale Baseband and Dual-band Remote Radio Head (RRH) products. Moreover, Nokia will deliver its Single RAN solution that allows a single base station to run 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G technologies concurrently. This is huge technology-wise for the country, as it will enable Orange Jordan to achieve more efficient site solutions across its entire network.
Lastly, Orange Jordan will employ Nokia's NetAct network management system. This will open the door for a consolidated network view to enhance network monitoring and management. (Not to forget the digital design, deployment and technical support services Nokia plans on providing, too.)
Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia, expressed his delight over the weight of this partnership with Orange Jordan.
Uitto said, “5G technology will have an evolutionary impact on the Kingdom of Jordan stimulating growth and enabling advanced services for the benefit of both industries and consumers. We are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with Orange Jordan to support the country’s path to digital transformation.”
This partnership represents a major leap for Jordan's technological infrastructure, as the implementation of 5G technology offers tons of benefits to Jordanian individuals, businesses, and the wider economy. With Nokia's much-hailed 5G equipment and Orange Jordan's wide-reaching network, the country is set up to embrace its digital transformations with a boost in confidence.
