Ericsson, Telenet Announce Partnership Extension

By Luke Bellos

Global communications and digital service provider Ericsson recently revealed it will be extending an existing partnership with Belgian communications company, Telenet.

As part of this continued relationship, Ericsson will provide managed services to optimize network activity, introduce 5G hardware for mobile support, and integrate advanced enhancements to improve functionality and customer experiences.

“We are pleased to reinforce our long-term partnership with Ericsson as part of our vision to build a future-ready 5G network that enables world-class experience for our customers.” commented Micha Berger, Chief Technology Officer, Telenet “We are confident that these new technologies will enable us to provide to our customers a state-of-the-art mobile experience.”

One of the most significant upgrades for Telenet operations will be the deployment of the Ericsson Operations Engine, which will utilize artificial intelligence and automation features to help maintain high quality performance. Simultaneously, Ericsson will benefit from this deal by acquiring 15 mobile network experts to support its own activity, though these employees will still remain employed by Telenet.

“Prolonging and expanding our managed services contract is the recognition of our operational performance as Telenet’s trusted partner and is complementing our 5G RAN contract.” added Franck Bouétard, Head of Ericsson Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Algeria and Tunisia “ As Belgium is continuing its shift toward 5G, we are honored to extend our partnership with a key actor such as Telenet to deliver leading 5G services to Belgian consumers.”
